#1 – Charrette is Not a New Strategy
The diversity of the city necessitates many kinds of methods and approaches. One strategy for gospel transformation will not be effective in all parts of the city with people of different backgrounds, beliefs or behaviors.
For example, there are at least six distinct approaches being employed to start new churches in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin. One focuses on community programs to support under-resourced youth and families, one tends to provide in-depth theological teaching to connect with educated professionals, while another emphasizes the role of prayer and relationships to see a neighborhood transformed. And those are just the start!
Varying strategies for outreach, discipleship and church planting are not simply needed, but celebrated. Each distinct effort has a distinct strategy—and that’s okay. Charrette is not advocating for one new method, but for multiple methods.
